First, I feel I should explain the title and a little bit about myself. This is my first semester here at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. I started my educational career in Acton, Massachetts. Upon graduating, for whatever reason, I felt the need to "get out there," so I attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. After a year there, I went back home for a year and a half to attend Middlesex Community College in Bedford, MA. Which brings me here.

Hi Nate. First, my comments on your photoessay. I love that it starts out with the story of your transistion to UMass. It gives a little context for the subject of your blog over all--UMass (as a new space for you). You have so much in the essay about the area around the duckpond and the FAC and then you return to the duckpond in one of your audio posts. I wonder if you might have just focused on that space in your photoessay and moved on to your car and Route 9 for other projects so you could have more time to develop those spaces as well. Your shot of the yellow car in front of the red house is really amazing, and route 9 is so full of character and people, and bussiness and cars for such a small stretch of road. I'd love to read and see more about the life that goes on there like you showed me about all the campus life that goes on around the duckpond and FAC--a place equally full of people and activity, but of a different kind. Nice work and thanks for being the first to venture into audio posting. You've inspired me to get my act together and try it out for myself.
